Dentist visit

I guess I better get used to going to the doctor, especially with a child like Kaylee on my hands!

Today we went to the dentist. Not for a routine check-up or scheduled appointment, but for a chipped tooth. Kaylee was walking into Ama's (aka grandma) house and tripped. She face planted right into a concrete stepping stone. Thankfully it is not TOO bad of a chip, but it is still a chip. I know that they are her baby teeth and hopefully when she gets her big girl teeth there will be NO more incidents. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the next 18 years, you think that will help? He doesnt think that the chip will cause her any discomfort but he wants to keep an eye on it. She got X-rays and was told to come back in 2 weeks to see him again. We will see how that goes.

I promise my child is NOT on crack

Where did that come from?

Kaylee was helping Marcus unload the groceries out of the car the other day. Marcus hands Kaylee something for her to carry in and she gives it back to him and says "heavy daddy." so Marcus gives her something lighter, to which she replies the same thing. This happened a few more times before Marcus just decided to carry everything in himself while Kaylee followed behind. When they got inside I questioned why Kaylee was not 'helping' and Marcus explained. Then he turned to Kaylee and asked "is daddy heavy?" Kaylee said "ESS!" Then he asked "is mommy heavy," and she said "NO!"

When we were in the car the other day I heard Kaylee in the back seat talking to herself. This is a very common occurance, but this time she was saying something new. She said "Ainslee freaking out, Ainslee freaking out". Then I remembered that when I was talking on the phone I said those exact words to Marcus. A few minutes later she was in the backseat saying "blah blah blah". I must have said that while on the phone too.

I was getting Kaylee ready for bed the other night and we were in her room. She was being her usual wild self jumping around when all of a sudden she stopped, turned, looked at me and said "I fart". I was like where in the world did you hear that? I never say that word! She is so GROSS!

Instead of saying "no thank you" when she doesn't want something, she either says "no" and then does the sign for thank you. Or she says "no please". It is really funny.

'Bob Buller' is her new favorite friend. After learning about Bob the Builder from books that Auntie Ceire got her from the library, Kaylee is obsessed with him. She picks at least 1 Bob book for naptime and bedtime every single day. And she sings his song throughout the day, it goes something like this......"Bob Buller fick it? Ess can!" She knows most of the characters in the show, bizzy (that's really dizzy) and rolly, and Endy (that's Wendy), and Lofty. However she still won't sit down and watch even part a 30 minute episode. After the theme song is over at the beginning she gets up and moves on to something else.

Kaylee loves to be called "good girl Kaylee". I try to praise her for all the things she does, to help reinforce positive behaviors. She will do something she knows is wrong and then say "good girl Kaylee". As if she is asking if she is a good girl. It is so hard to keep a straight face when she throws her plate of food on the floor and then says "good girl Kaylee". Today I asked her to do something for me while I was nursing Ainslee. She said "NO". So I said "that is NOT a good girl Kaylee," she immediately went and did what I asked and then came to me and said "good girl Kaylee?" I said "YES! Good girl Kaylee". I wonder how long that is going to last.

Ainslee on mommy's back

I borrowed this pouch from my friend Bethany and Ainslee absolutely LOVES it! We have used it at home and when we are at the store. But this is my first time to put her on my back. She can sit, sleep, and lay in it many different ways.

We're on the home stretch

Upstairs is NEARLY COMPLETE!
We are only 3 months past the deadline.

Joe the painter is finishing up over the next couple of days and then all that is left is the final clean up and putting things where they are going to stay. Well actually I still have to install the shelves in the 2 closets but that will only take a couple of hours. I can't believe that we will finally be able to use the extra space. I can't wait.

Pictures will be coming soon, after we get things put away

My new niche

I think i have finally settled into my role as a mother of 2.

Today I felt like I was back to my old self. I felt well rested. I am mobile. I was able to get stuff done again.

Here's how my day went, I was pretty pleased with how much I got accomplished.

We went to run errands this morning. Which included picking up lunch for a friend. After errands we dropped off lunch to my friend and visited for a very brief time before rushing home to get a snack before nap time. While at home I was able to unload and load the dishwasher, do a load of laundry, vacuum downstairs, give both girls a bath, make a casserole for dinner, get some computer work done (when the internet was actually working), get the car loaded to go to my parents house for dinner, and then home by myself to put both girls to bed. Its not quite what I used to be able to accomplish in one day but it is getting close. Overall I considered this a pretty successful day.

Tweet Tweet Cry

Every spring we are graced with the presence of birds at the Martinez house. They build their nest on our front porch and poo all over the place. They attack guests as they attempt to approach our front door. And they peck at every window in the house. That must be because my windows are so clean!

The ones that peck at my back window are the most annoying. I guess that is because we spend most of our time in the living room. Today I was sitting in my usual spot on the couch with my back to the window. I was nursing Ainslee and Kaylee was sitting next to me when all of a sudden we heard a loud bang! This one was much louder than the usual pecking. I turned around to find a bird on the ground with what looks like a broken wing and its leg was laying very strangely out to the side. It lay their helpless as Kaylee asks a thousand times "what's dat?" I showed her the bird and told her he has a boo boo. She has been talking about it ever since. Saying "tweet tweet cry ah boo boos." It definitely kept her occupied while I nursed, which is a good thing. I have been struggling with keeping her out of trouble while I am busy nursing. So I guess I need to start sacrificing a bird everytime I nurse so that she won't get into any trouble. That bird kept her glued to the window for at least 20 minutes. After I was finished I opened the back door to see if it would fly away, and sure enough it attempted to fly away.

My Sweet and Talented Husband

When the door bell rang yesterday, this was the LAST thing i expected to find when I opened it. Marcus sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers totally out of the blue. He usually has a very hard time surprising me, but he sure pulled it off this time. Not only did he surprise me with the flowers but he included the sweetest little note with them.

Thanks BABE!!! I LOVE YOU!!!

And then theres the talented side of him. Wednesday when he was making his dinner the oven decided to explode (not really, but it sounds better that way). That's not the "talented" side I was referring to. As he was trying to toast his bread the heating element went out and began sparking. We have been without a stove or oven since then. Let me just tell you how hard it is to come up with ways to cook with only a microwave, we havent even had a grill since we ran out of gas this week too. I have missed my stove and oven dearly. So my dad came over this afternoon and diagnosed the problem, then Marcus went and bought the part and installed it himself. I was so proud of him, and extremely elated to have my stove/oven back. He even let Kaylee help........well kinda help.

Dear lady with no regard for other peoples property

You are RUDE and disrespectful! Please think of how you would like your own belongings to be treated by others before you go damaging other peoples things and just walking away like nothing happened. And remember people

Here's a description of the events that happened which inspired this post.

We get to LeBonheur yesterday morning for Ainslee's procedure and as I am getting everything out of the car I notice 2 women getting into another car near where we were parked. Naturally I just glance over at them and I looked up just in time to see 1 of them open the door and bang the car next to them with their car door. The lady proceeds to get into her car and say "Oops". I was like "yeah oops is right!" She just got into her car and drove away! How freaking rude is that? It makes so me mad when people have no regard for another persons property. My nosey self had to go look at the damaged car, and it was worse than just a little door ding. It was dented and a little piece of paint was chipped off. I would be so mad if that was my car. That must be why Marcus likes for me park out in the middle of nowhere, and I thought it was because I could use the exercise.

Results:
The Upper GI showed that her anatomy is working properly, and the pediatric radiologist that did the test said that it is not a reflux issue. After leaving there I called the lactation consultant (she helped me a bunch when I was nursing Kaylee), she was able to give me lots of ideas on things to try to help alleviate the problems Ainslee is having. She also said that she is 99% sure that it is NOT a dairy issue. She said that what I was describing did not sound like Ainslee has a problem with the things I am eating. I'll keep you posted on our progress in this area, in the meantime I will be eating my beloved dairy items again.......Thank Heavens!

Date Night - 1st Bottle

Marcus and I were able to go on our 1st date, since Ainslee was born, the other night. We dropped both girls off with Ceire and Rita and headed to the movies. We were actually a little early so we decided to go for some sushi before the movie. We went to see Taken; I highly recommend that movie, I really enjoyed it. But I can't say which I enjoyed more: the alone time with Marcus or the movie. Then we went to the hospital to visit my friend Katie who had just had her first baby. Precious little Mary Thomas was born just 7 hours before we met her.

Kaylee was scheduled to spend the night at their house so we went back to pick up ainslee and then headed home for a nice night with just ainslee. However she did not cooperate very much, my plan of sleeping in failed just about the time Ainslee decided she wasn't going to sleep more than 3 hours at a time. But either way it was a nice break only having 1 child to care for.

So back to the point of this post......Ainslee is scheduled for an Upper GI on Wednesday so the doctors want her to practice taking a bottle before she has to drink the barium from a bottle for the procedure. Like always I get all worked up and nervous before my kids take big steps like this, and once again they showed me that there is no reason to worry. Ainslee took the bottle so perfectly. Ceire said that she started the bottle during a commercial break and she was finished and burped before the show was back on. How's that for an efficient eater! One thing I know for sure is that my girls LOVE to eat! That's how I know they are my kids, they share my love of food!

We Really ARE Irish

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Sometimes it takes a woman to do a man's job

How many men does it take to open a jar of artichokes?

Apparently more than 2!

The other day I asked Marcus to open my jar of artichokes. When he was unsuccessful he enlisted the help of "B" (my sister's boyfriend). They struggled with the jar for a few minutes before making their way to the floor, I guess in an attempt to get better leverage. They tried so hard to open the jar I thought they were going to pop a blood vessel or something. In the meantime Kaylee, Mary, and I were watching and laughing at them struggling over this jar. Kaylee even tried to help them at one point. After a few more minutes Mary decided to take a crack at opening it. She took the jar to the kitchen while the boys were thinking 1 of 2 things:

#1 there is no way in hell a girl is going to open that if we couldn't
#2 if she opens that it is because we loosened it for her

After about 5 seconds Mary emerges from the kitchen with the jar in one hand and the lid in the other. I nearly fell off the couch laughing. She said it was a girl trick she learned, about how to pop the seal using a knife. Well whatever she did it worked and we all got a good laugh out of it!

Ah-choo

Kaylee had to go to the allergy doctor today because her pediatrician seems to think that that could be what has been causing some of her problems over the past month or so. Here is a picture of what they did to her arm, then after these tests the had to give her 10 shots in her upper arm. Let me just tell you how FUN that appointment was. After over 2 hours we learned that she is allergic to 3 things: dust, mold, and I cant remember the 3rd. We have a lot of adjustments to make to her room and some of the other areas of the house to make it better for her. I was just thinking I needed one more thing added to my To Do list.

We promised Kaylee a surprise after the doctor appointment because she took all that they did to her like a CHAMP! i was so proud of how she did! We took her to Chick-fil-A and got her an ice cream (which she ate all of about 6 bites). And then she played on the playground.

While we were busy with Kaylee at the doctor, Ainslee was home with my mom getting her 2nd bottle ever. The doctor wants her to have a little bit of practice with a bottle before her appointment on Wednesday. So far she has taken them like she has been drinking from them her whole life. I will post pictures and more about that later.

Photo Shoot

Here are a few pictures from Ainslee's photo shoot with my friend Bethany today. These were just some that were taken with the camera phone the other ones will be coming later. I was just so excited I had to post some.

So that's what that yellow and orange stuff was

Anything to keep her busy! That seems to be the theme these days!
The other day when Ceire was over helping with the girls I got a great idea. I needed to give Ainslee a bath, and instead of having "help" from Kaylee I asked Ceire if she would mind coloring with Kaylee. She agreed and they sat down at the table. The coloring held Kaylee's attention for about 8 minutes, then eating a yellow crayon seemed MUCH more interesting to her. Since I wasnt quite finished with Ainslee's bath, Ceire decided to take a shot at the play-doh. She gets out this all-too-tempting orange color and proceeds to explain the rules to Kaylee. Ceire showed her some fun things to do with it, and she seemed to really enjoy it. Then the beautiful orange color was just too intriguing, so she had to take a taste. Yep! She ate the play-doh too! You would think that we didnt feed her or something

My Dinner

Delicious!

That's the only word I could think of for my dinner tonight. Here's how it played out. I was too busy today to get anything ready for dinner, so we were stuck with leftovers.

Marcus opted for a pizza. And I thought to myself out loud "man I sure wish I could have a pizza, even if it was gluten free." I reluctantly got his pizza started as i tried to come up with something for myself.

I set my sights on a gluten free brown rice tortilla with some turkey and veggie cheese (that's the dairy free cheese I am eating these days). And to go with it I was serving myself some gluten free pasta with sauce and a few pieces of veggie cheese to top it off. I was excited about my wrap until I saw that my tortilla was moldy. So I had to scratch that idea. I was left with just my pasta, so I had 2 bowls. I felt like I was in Italy! I sat there with my delicious bowl of pasta sipping my fabulous glass of wine; I don't get many since I'm nursing so I enjoy every sip.

I wonder what kind of delicious gluten and dairy free items will be on the menu tomorrow night. Maybe Marcus will make my dinner and serve me.......i guess that's wishful thinking

Buh Bye Beloved Chevy

We sold the truck! Or should I say Marcus sold the truck!
Thanks Auto Trader!

Since becoming pregnant with Ainslee, Marcus and I have been going round and round about what vehicles would suit our family the best. I think we finally came to a good conclusion that the truck just wasn't one of them. Despite it being Marcus' "favorite" truck, he agreed (quite reluctantly) to part with it and make room for a more family friendly vehicle. We have pretty much narrowed our search down to 1 car. I'll post pictures and details when we actually own it.

Thanks babe!!! For agreeing to keep the more economical vehicle. Even though it might not be the most comfortable for your long legs or the most "manly" car you've ever driven. I guess I owe you that steak dinner you were asking for.

Ainslee's Ultrasound

Ainslee has had quite a rough couple of weeks. She is having some stomach problems and we are unsure of the cause. Her pediatrician ordered an ultrasound her stomach last Friday, and the results showed that it was working properly; however, her problems still remain. I do have to say that Ainslee did so GREAT during the ultrasound. The techs were so surprised at how well she did, even after not eating for 3.5 hours. I was so very proud of her! So Monday they prescribed her some medication, and told me to stay away from dairy for at least 2 more weeks. So is there anyone out there who would be willing to be there for me, I am in need of moral support in my gluten free and dairy free journey. It is so hard finding food to eat! So any one who wants to try this diet voluntarily let me know and we can share ideas.

Here are a few pictures

A few pictures

At the park in Collierville. The weather has been so BEAUTIFUL we just have to enjoy it while it lasts!
Ainslee's 1st bath at home. She wasn't quite sure what to think about the water.

After Ainslee's bath

Kaylee holding her hair back as she kisses Ainslee.
SO CUTE!

Kaylee is so proud of her little sister, and loves to hold her.
Marcus and I had eye doctor appointments and Kaylee thought she needed to try on a few pairs of glasses. I thought they looked pretty good on her.

Ainslee posing in her new organic onsie her Auntie Crista got for her. She loves it so much she just couldn't help but spit up on it while mommy got the camera ready.

Open Gym

Auntie Ceire was so awesome to find an activity for Kaylee to do that could help get out some of her energy. Secretly I was hoping that it would help with her sleep issues, but that didn't happen! This special activity is an open gym at a local gymnastics center. Basically I pay a flat fee for her to play on all the equipment for 1.5 hours. That is MUCH longer than any classes available for her age, and she gets to play on whatever equipment she wants. So far there has never been more than 3 kids there at one time, so she is basically getting individual lessons for a really good price. I kinda wish that there were other bigger kids that came so that Kaylee could learn what to do by watching them. So far her most FAVORITE thing to do is "junch junch," that's "jump jump" in case you didn't know.

Check out the slide show above for some of the pictures from her first day. I am going to be adding more pictures to that slide show after Friday's session, apparently this is going to be a special week with some surprises.

Hospital Pictures

I apologize for the extra long break between posts, I have many many things that I want to post about it has just been extremely hard to find the time to do so

A few weeks before Ainslee was born Marcus and I talked about what our new little baby would look like. Would he/she have hair? Would he/she have dark skin? And all sorts of other things. I assured Marcus that no matter if our little baby was a boy or a girl he/she would probably look like Kaylee when she was born.

So when Ainslee was born and we all looked at her, none of us thought that she looked anything like Kaylee! I was completely shocked! It wasn't until we got home from the hospital and received the pictures that we ordered in the hospital, we were able to compare the two girls pictures. I purposefully brought the same outfit to the hospital and we looked at the two side by side dressed in the same outfit at 2 days old. It was amazing how similar they look. Some people I showed them to thought that they were the same baby!

You decide for yourself.......which picture is which girl
